Maulwurf (EN)

It is meant to make the time between (or even during?) lectures more enjoyable with current information from the university and student association, puzzles, funny stories, and more. Since 2017, each edition of the “Maulwurf” has also focused on a central theme, which we explore in more depth through several academic articles, hoping to offer you even more exciting reading material. However, we are also happy to accept articles on other topics. 😉

Current theme (SoSe24): The Situation of International Students

The proportion of international students at TUM continues to grow. However, starting next semester, TUM will be introducing tuition fees for non-EU international students. At the same time, these students are already facing significant challenges, such as finding suitable housing and dealing with political issues in their home countries or those of their relatives and friends. Many also participate in entirely English-language programs and, due to limited or weak German skills, often struggle to navigate life outside the university.

For this reason, this semester’s Mole addresses the situation of international students and gives them a platform to share their thoughts and experiences. We also have a survey in front of the student council. Please feel free to fill it out and drop it in the yellow mailbox or hand it in at the student council office.
